The World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences (WCRSVS) (aka College of Refractive Surgery) is a global organization, founded as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC) comprised of physicians, optometrists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, certified ophthalmic technicians and administrators who work in the field of surgical vision correction, refractive surgery.
The World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences oversees curriculum development and accreditation of training programs for personnel at all levels in refractive surgery.
In addition, the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences monitors the growth and impact of the industry. Social impact, economic impact, utilization, complications, technology patterns and trends are all considered.
WORLD COLLEGE OF REFRACTIVE SURGERY & VISUAL SCIENCES – MISSION
The mission of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences is to guide the professional development of the physicians and the collaborative care personnel working in the vital area of surgical vision correction, including physicians, optometrists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, certified ophthalmic technicians, and administrators.
The overarching mission is to bring the benefits of refractive surgery to more people, and to promote public confidence in refractive surgery by creating standards of excellence, safety, access to current technology and creating affordable access are top priorities at all levels of care.
FELLOW WORLD COLLEGE OF REFRACTIVE SURGERY & VISUAL SCIENCES (aka Fellow College of Refractive Surgery)
Individual Members’ of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences who have achieved accreditation in an approved curriculum from a member organization of the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences, become eligible to apply for “Fellow” status in the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences. Fellowship accreditation is conferred upon verification that the individual has satisfied the curriculum requirements and has passed the accreditation examination(s). Interviews, professional credentials, affiliations, and professional history (such as disciplinary actions) are all considered as part of the accreditation review process.
MEMBER WORLD COLLEGE OF REFRACTIVE SURGERY & VISUAL SCIENCES (aka Member College of Refractive Surgery)
Individual membership in the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences is open to all collaborative care personnel working in the field of refractive surgery, including physicians, optometrists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, certified ophthalmic technicians, and administrators.
Association and corporate membership are open to educational and training organizations who seek “Member” status with the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences for curriculum approval. Physicians trained in a member organization using an accredited curriculum are eligible to apply for Fellow status in the World College of Refractive Surgery & Visual Sciences.
